FIRST IMPRESSION
There are very few adult sites that have good notoriety, have been online for years, and are hugely successful because of quality; 99bb is on that short list. Though not as well known in North America, 99bb has been one of the most popular adult sites in Japan for several years, and has been on my radar for a long time due to its specialization in uncensored Japanese movies.

REVIEW
There is no separate members area at 99bb like you see at most other paysites — what you see in the tour is exactly what you get as a paying member; after entering your username and password, all the movie files in the tour become unlocked and accessible. To be more specific, you get access to over 4400 uncensored Japanese movies and 1300 western (non-Japanese) movies — all full-length.

You'll easily be able to navigate your way through movies in 21 different niche categories including extreme bizarre sex and hentai (animated porn) which can be hard to find; as well as a large selection of movies from many of Japan's most popular AV Stars like: Anna Miyashita, Maria Hirai, Nao Oikawa, and Sakura Sakurada. All movies are available in downloadable and streamable WMV (windows media) formats in various sizes and qualities: perfect for both broadband and dial-up internet users. The highest quality movies are available for download at a whopping 720x540 resolution and look as good as a DVD on a computer screen. I was very impressed. Even the lower quality movies are a respectable 320x240 resolution that looks very good at full-screen.

Unfortunately there is one huge issue I have: every movie at 99bb is protected with DRM (Digital Rights Management). In short, what DRM means to you is 1) you'll only be able to watch movies with Windows Media Player 9, and 2) once your membership expires you'll no longer be able to watch any 99bb movies — including any movie you have saved on your computer. I personally have problems with DRM content and prefer sites that don't use it, but it's becoming so common that within a few years most movies online will use it, so maybe I should just get used to it?

CONCLUSION
99bb has all the marks of a great paysite: multiple daily movie updates, huge archive of content (over 5700 full movies), and a solid reputation. If you're interested in authentic Japanese hardcore porn then you can't go wrong with 99bb — its popularity in Japan gives it all the street cred it needs. Just make sure you don't have a problem with DRM before you join.

NEWS: 99bb has announced that as of April 27, 2005 it will start providing Non-DRM movies. At this time, this announcement does not change my review.
